Jazz At The Sawmill Live
爵士木廠
The production: This live recording was made on April 10th 1994 at the jazz
club "SAWMILL", at the Moehnesee in North-Rhine/Westphalia, Germany. This CD is
a new edition of the 1994 published first edition. On this sunny Sun-day in
April 1994, a large number of jazz friends met at the club to attend this event.
The "SAWMILL" is the preferential address for jazz musicians and music
friends as well, because of the delightful ambience, located close to the
concrete dam of the Moehnesee (lake). Franz Schreiber, the owner of the club,
had turned his hobby into business and has built the most beautiful jazz club.
Charlie Antolini, Chris Barber, Mr. Acker Bilk, Barrel-house Jazz Band, John
Slaughter Blues Band, and in addition, Barbara Dennerlein, Katie Webster and
Albie Donally - had gigs in this jazz club, which opened in 1992.
Since technical and sonically conditions are quite good at the Sawmill for
such live recordings, this club was selected, in which the NEW SAVOY JAZZMEN had
many concerts before. All recording equipment used for this production was
provided by the HIGH END SOCIETY. All instruments were recor-ded exclusively
with our own, highquality micro-phones.
We wanted to catch very consciously the atmosphere of the club with all the
noises and reactions of the public, because this "Swinging Chicago Jazz" must be
experienced either with good friends live on site, or be caught however with its
atmosphere, so that the rhythm of the music inspires the listener.
